Default Unanswered: Problems sleeping through the night.

We just got a 9 week old black lab/ boxer pup named Kingston. He is an awesome puppy, amazingly smart and obedient. The only problem is he has a hard time sleeping through the night. I was wondering if this was normal or if anyone has any advice

thank you

WOW what a cute pup!

You say he doesn't sleep through the night. Where does he sleep? In a crate? How do you know he doesn't sleep? Does he whimper/toss and turn/move around? Try and give a bit more detail and I'd be happy to give you further advice. How many days have you had him? He could be nervious about being away from his mother in a new home which could cause restlessness. In this case things should be just fine and clear up before you know it. probably within the next few days.

Good luck with the new pup!

well he sleeps in bed with my boyfriend and I. We have had him for a week now, and just last night everything improved. He ended up sleeping through the night and everything.

Be careful with letting your pup sleep in the bed! We let ours as a puppy, and now she thinks she owns the bed. She's very protective of it and insists upon sleeping UNDER the covers now! I'm glad everything is going better for you though! Labs are the cutest.

It's fine to let a pup sleep with you in your bed so long as you make it clear that it is YOUR bed and not the pup's. The pup needs to be given permission before being able to hop up on it. It's all part of you becoming the alpha and such there by teaching your pup that permission must be granted in this scenerio.
