Unanswered: pet insurance
Hello, I am new here and have been reading various posts without finding anything on pet insurance. Are there any really decent ones around?

Unfortunately Pet Insurance is generally not worth anything. It in most cases has so many limitations that most have found they have paid for nothing which is why most do not purchase it. It generally is simply not cost effective when you weigh out the odds of using it. It has so many stipulations regarding surgery, emergencies etc. that in actuality you will spend far more on it then it would be to just cover the cost yourself. I was going to purchase it some years ago for one of my dogs. Cost was $35.00 a month. Sounded reasonable at the time. But after reviewing several of them realized the limited coverage. The dog lived just past 16 years and in that time my cost for her was less than $2000.00. The insurance cost would have exceeded over $6700.00. Most of this was due to a c-section. Which most likely you will not have to deal with. That was nearly $600.00. I have discussed this with my vets over the years and they have even hinted to me that the programs are not that good. Choose wisely if you elect to go this route.

All of my brood are insured with Petsecure. It has saved me an awful lot of money, especially with my oldest who is beginning to develop some health issues and sees the vet quite often and requires two expensive medications on an ongoing basis.

Then you found one of the ones that are rare and actually provide actual coverage that you need. Granted, it was some years back when I looked into it but then again as my vets over the years noted, you need to weigh it and see what all it covers but then again that is no different than most insurance policies. The problem some like myself have is with multiple dogs, you had to pay for each dogs policy not like where you get a family plan. Maybe that also has now changed.

It's a good company. They provide a lot of stuff that others don't like dental, physiotherapy, acupuncture, behavioural therapy, chemotherapy, etc. Also, it gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing that I'll never lose anyone because I can't afford the treatment.

You should go online and try to find the contact details of leading insurance companies that provide insurance for pets. There is nothing wrong in pet insurance policy if we purchase it wisely.
