Unanswered: Help??
My mother in law brought home this dog last winter. It took a long time for him to trust us. We are thinking he was mistreated. He is such a beautiful dog, but I don't know what breed/breeds he is. Could anyone help?

Depends on his size. He looks like he might have Chow in him, or some other spitz-type breed. He's pretty!

Thanks! He is a beautiful dog. His ears throw me for a loop because they are always bent over lol. And his tail is bushy. I would say right now he is about the size of a german shepherd.

I am thinking some Chow also but not all Chow. The face is not chow to me especially the ears! I am giving you this link to a mixed breed it could be: Chow Shepherd Information and Pictures, Chow Chow / German Shepherd Hybrid Dogs
Also here is the page/link to the Chow Chow: Chow Chow Information and Pictures, Chow Chows Chow Chows have some very distinctive features and if you check the description on the link--You will prob. find out if there is some Chow Chow in this dog---esp the color of tongue and almost straight back legs that make it walk rather stilted.
Let me know what you think!

He's Adorable!
I have to agree with the other posts! He is defiantly chow and something... the shepherd is probably the next breed. Chows really seem to get around... LOL!!! My pup is a chow mix but it isn't as prominent as Buster!

Lol, the 3 new pics don't look so much of a Chow as the 2 pics before! But as far as not having the black tongue (If it is part Chow)--the color of tongue could be from the other part of the mix. If it had a black tongue--would be pretty convincing that it was part Chow. Forgot--Is there only a couple breeds that have a black tongue or is it only just the Chow? I mentioned Chow-Shepherd mix in my first post and I still think it is part shepherd.
And I agree--It is a pretty dog!

To me that looks like a Golden Retriever. Does his nose change a pink colour in the winter?
