Unanswered: Need help on breed of dog.
Greetings and salutations. I am in a bit of a quandary. My dog, Peanut, recently passed away. I am devastated and there is a tremendous void in my life without her. Friends suggested that I get another dog, but I really loved mine and cannot see myself with a different type of dog. My quandary is that I never really knew what type of dog Peanut was. I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction. Here are her details:
She was medium, but on the smaller side, always quite skinny
She had a full tail, but doberman-like markings
She appears to be some sort of German Shepard mix.
She lived a long, full life of over 16 years, minimal health problems
She was very spunky, right up until the last year of her life, when the deterioration began.
She was sweet and non-violent, but she was an excellent watch dog, barking madly whenever anyone came to the door but never attacking.
She wasn't overly intelligent, getting skunked 5 times never seemed to phase her.
Here is her picture
Edit: It looks like I am not allowed to post her picture
This picture was taken in December, She died in June. If anyone can help identify this dog breed, I would be greatly appreciative. She was the perfect dog, right down to her size. Obviously Peanut herself cannot be replaced, but I would love to have another dog as close to her in personality and overall healthiness as possible.
Edit: I think I need to show her picture to get a response, so if anyone could just point me in the direction of a dog breed finder or if there are any experts who would be interested in looking at the picture, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you.

Here is a copy of a post done by Yogi (moderator) that I asked about posting pictures/photos. Why are so many new members having a problem with this believing you have to have 50 posts first? There must be a place in here where new members are getting this idea!
Anyway here is the post answering my question on this that was directed at another new member--same problem:

And can new people put in albums right away? Lol, I have more problems with the post pics than I do the album! Thanks in advance!

To post a pic, all you need to do is scroll to the next section below this one where it says manage attachments. Click on it and add a pic. End by scrolling down to the submit box. To my knowledge we have no post requirement for posting pics on posts. Other new members have done so recently.
I am sorry to hear of your loss, and I know how you feel as I just lost my Corky on June 10th--He would of been 12 on the 13th--3 days after he died. There is a thread in here where a lot of members are saying to get a completely different kind of dog and not to try to get another 'copy' as it would never replace the one you lost--You would always be comparing the two--not fair to the new dog and also hard on you!---But I know how you feel as I would love to have another Corky---Hard not to want him back, but I know it would be best not to put a strain on myself and a new pup/dog. My head tells me this but my heart doesn't (yet).

Thank you, but I have never been one to follow the crowd. I really want another of this type of dog because it was a perfect breed for me. She was the perfect size and temperament. I really don't want a big dog or a small dog. Medium is perfect, especially medium on the smaller side. Thank you for the picture advice, obviously we were lead in the wrong direction by the whole "You must have a post count of 50 to post pictures" message that we got after making the mistake of trying to post with source code. Oh well. Thank you again, and if anyone knows where I can find out what breed of dog this is, I will be greatly appreciative.

She was a lovely looking dog. The trouble is with any sort of mix they are true one off dogs - even if you knew the exact makeup you could breed those dogs over and over again without producing a dog like the one you had. If you only know one half of the puzzle there is little to zero chance of reproducing the same look. And as for character - so much is determined by the dog's upbringing. I doubt you will ever find another dog like Peanut.
Having said that the photo looks to me like a Kelpie:

Just FYI: A potent cocktail of blood runs in the veins of the Australian Cattle Dog, also known as a Heeler---blue merle Collie, Dalmatian, Old English Sheepdog,AUSTRALIAN KELPIE, the little-known Smithfield and the native dingo. And I agree with cigwyllt --it does look like it had some Kelpie and possibly hints of the other breeds mentioned above.
Here is a very good site to check out pics and descriptions of any breed you want (maybe it will give you new ideas also). There are even mixed breed pics!------------->

Could it be a mix of German Shepherd and Labrador?
If you search for it on Google Images it comes up with a similar looking dog with similar colour and markings. Also though, the behaviour is partially environmental, keep looking you will find that perfect dog!
