Default Unanswered: Puppy advice needed - barking

Hi! I have a 6-month-old Great Dane puppy named Audrey. Great dog! She is an outside dog and was lonely when we were at work so we got another puppy yesterday. She is a 3-month-old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix. We named her Scarlet. They are having the best time playing. The problem comes in with the barking. Audrey VERY rarely barked. She and Scarlet spent the night playing on our screened-in porch which happens to be right outside my bedroom window. They yipped and barked ALL night! I got very little sleep, even with ear plugs.

The obvious solution would be to keep them from the porch. I do, however, want them to be able to stay on the porch. We live in Georgia where it is extremely hot. We have beds set up for them, ceiling fans, box fan and it shelters them from the sun. Just need the barking to stop. Any advice?

Thanks!

Default Welcome to the forum!

I don't have a good answer! But since they just met that same day that the barking started---maybe in a little time the barking will become not a problem once the 'novelty' wears off. Maybe you could sleep in another room for a while. Then there are those 'no bark' collars but I don't think much of them.

I'm guessing the dogs are just adjusting to their new home and new friend. Hopefully like Corky said, it will wear off and improve. I also dont think much of bark collars or repellents. Maybe give them some comfort items? Favorite toys etc.. Or maybe they are just missing you in the night. I'm not sure! I hope it improves.
