Default Unanswered: Need help finding out puppy breed

I am looking into getting these two pups from the animal shelter. They said the dogs were owner surrendered and they were listed as dachshund/beagle mixed.

I am not seeing the beagle here and barely the dachshund. Anyone have any ideas. I am kinda hoping they aren't that doxie mix because I only hear alot of rough things about raising them =/.

Thanks for the help in advance.

yfrog.com/jk1001412hj (second puppy black/white one)

Won't let me link pics. These are obviously imageshack link uploads.

To be honest with you and coming from 50 plus years of rescue and raising dogs I will tell you the same thing I tell everyone because it is simply the truth.
At the age these pups are, unless they are purebred there really is no way to tell what they are a mix of. The best time is when they reach approx 6 to 8 months of age. At that time their general physical structure, head shape, ears and adult coat are more present and tends to reveal more clear distinct traits that lend experienced dog people to deduce based on the characteristics, what the breed or breeds are. At this point, if you like them and they are something you can spend the proper time with and be patient (key word with all puppies), than so long as you have a home with space for them, the decision is yours. But it is a life time commitment that in the end is well worth it. I have owned so many dogs over the past 50 plus that I am not totally sure how many, but the rescues whether young or old have left a mark. As for Dachshunds, they are in fact great small dogs. Granted they were bred as Badger hounds, but are full of energy and life and can be quite amusing.

Agreed. I figured it would be rough to spot the breed. Thank you for the help.

No problem. Hopefully you can give these little ones a new home where they can be what they are, dogs. A place to run, play and live to ripe old ages. Sort of like what most of us wish we could do....
