Question Unanswered: Why is My dog constantl licking her back feet for?

My dog Mia,has a bit of a problem with licking her back feet all the time and they look a pinkish colour.how do I get her feet back to the white colour again?.I am thinking it is the shampoo that I have been using but not sure, am going to take her out to RSPCA where I got her from and ask them what they think it could be?.Mia hates having a bath in the laundry tub and bath tub I have tried using a lead to keep her still but no sucess as yet any suggestions?

How often do you bath her? It does a dog no good at all to be bathed. It can lead to all sorts of skin and coat problems.

Feet licking can be a behaviour issue but it is also a sign of allergies and mites. You should get her checked by a vet.

You should be able to keep her clean just by brushing. My dogs only get baths if they roll in something disgusting and they smell just fine. I've had Toffee for 11 years and she was bathed the day I brought her home and not at all since.

I don't know about the discolouring on the feet but I know it happens with some dogs. My dog has long hair but his feet are white. My parents' dog is smooth and his are pink/red ie the hair should be white but it is discoloured.

You should get her checked by a vet. If it is mites it will start a viscious circle - itchy feet scratching the ears and the mites will go back and forth and cause all sorts of discomfort.

MIA'SO3.

My Jasmine, a peekapoo, would constantly lick "eat' her feet. This occured esp after being outside, in the wet grass. Vet stated her feet just got 'itchy' like we would do if we would roll around in wet grass! If this is the case with you, itching when she comes in, trying rinsing off and drying her paws after a romp in the yard. I would just distract Jasmine with a toy or a treat so she would stop.

Just got this off the net (and I was thinking vinegar also myself): Relieving a Dog's Itchy Feet

Also here is a link on the many things that vinegar is good for---mentions for itchiness I remember: What About Vinegar!!
