Default Unanswered: Citronelle Dog Bark Collars

I have 2 dogs...' Lil Bit and Sally. Lil Bit barks when she is trying to 'alert' me of something 'new around the house'...which is fine. But Sally, oh my, she barks at the wind. She doesn't so much do it inside as much as outside...and at 4am EVERY morning! Here is her routine... 4 - 4:30 am, she crawls out of bed with me and stands right beside the bed barking/whining/moaning at me to get up...or she will go downstairs to the backdoor and whine VERY loud--almost a muffled bark. I finally get up after trying to ignore it for at least 20 minutes and let her out to go potty...which she doesn't for quite some time. She just runs in circles in the back yard barking at the sky. I know my neighbors can't stand me. I try and correct her barking, but she just runs away and continues to bark...if I make her come in she just whines at the back door...if I put her in her cage..she barks. I don't know what to do...so I started looking at the Citronelle collars and I see great reviews...but just worry about it on her. Sally has come a VERY long way within the year that I have had her. She was a rescue as a puppy from an extremely bad environment and is extremely skittish and scared of anything and everyone besides me.

Sorry for the long post...but does anyone have any advice??? Do you think the Citronelle Collar might work?

Thanks

She is a mutt...I believe she has some kind of terrier in her...she has a beard she is about 40-45 lbs. I got her when she was about 8 weeks old. She was found in the back seat, along with her brothers and sisters, of an old abandoned car at the state fair grounds. The lady that found her had a bunch of dogs and wasn't the best situation....but she did the best she could with all the dogs she had.

Yes, this happens just about every night. I have tried anxiety/calm drops, pills and everything short of Valium (sp?) .

I had a border collie that loved to bark when anyone would get close to our house or anyone in our family. I was at the dog park and one of the other dog owners had noticed his excessive barking every time someone walked by. She came over and asked if we had ever tried curbing this problem. Of course we said yes...that's when she suggested trying a pop can filled with a small amount of coins or small rocks. At first I thought the lady was on something...but we went home and filled a pop can with about 5-10 pennies, and low and behold it actually worked.

Give this a try if you’re concerned about medication. Let me know if it works...good luck!

Yep, the old rattle can has been a useful tool along with a spray bottle for many years. Definitely gets their attention.
