Unanswered: Can dogs see the rainbow?
Can dogs see the rainbow? I need the information for a project of mine. Popular wisdom has it that dogs are color-blind, but recent research suggests that a dog's world is not all black and white. Hm..

Sorry - don't understand your question. Are you asking if dogs can see rainbows in the sky or are you asking if they can see the full spectrum of colour? Totally different questions!

I doubt if they can see rainbows in the sky. Sometimes they are so indistinct that some people can't see them. I very much doubt if a dog could.

Dogs are in fact color blind but you first must know the definition of color blindness. It does not necessarily imply you cannot see anything but black and white but instead some colors are not visible. Dogs do see in color but not all of the colors. Could they distinguish a rainbow, probably if clear enough but would they see all the colors in the rainbow, no.

From what I learned in vet tech school they do not only see black and white but they do have a limited view on colors.

Ah...Thanks guys. I've always wondered about whether or not my little ones can see colours. Does anybody know what colours they are not able to see?

What dogs see and don't see---
This is interesting! Lol, sounds like you shouldn't get those bright red or orange toys---as those colors are seen as dull gray or(can't remember) It tells you in this link: Can Dogs See Colors? | Psychology Today

Jasmine prefered only orange toys (seriously). Any other color just feel by the wayside. Now Stella, she'll play with color (and destroy it of course)

I've read some on dogs vision and I believe they can see color... just not as MANY colors as humans can and the colors aren't as 'rich' as we might see them.
