Default Unanswered: Fighting Dogs

I have two dogs.... ones a 2 yr old pug/cocker spaniel (Zoe) and the other is a 7 month old yellow lab (Lola). lola went in a week ago to be spayed and have front dewclaws removed. The vet advised that zoe be away for a few days while lola started her recovery. Since bring Zoe home the two have been fighting. it starts with a dirty look, the growling then the fighting. Any ideas how to stop this?

The one thing I have discovered after years of raising dogs is when ever I bring one back from the vet, the others are always leery of it or show some signs of aggressiveness towards it. It took some time before I realized it was simple, the odor. A vets office disinfectant carries onto the dog or cat and when it returns home the existing dog or dogs only smell a new odor and assume it is a new dog. Sounds odd but I would occasionally bath my returning dog in the same shampoo used on all of them and this alleviated the problem. Something to consider. Good luck.

I'd agree that it's the smell of the vet. I think a good bath for them both and bonding them again by walking together or another activity could definitely help the problem.
