Question Unanswered: 7 mo Pomeranian possible brain damage?

I have a seventh month old Pomeranian that I adopted from a couple that lived in the same apartment. She was only 8 weeks old when they got her, and I am not sure where they got her from. (possibly a puppy mill?)

I started taking care of her around 3 months old and she has had some serious behavior issues. I know she's had a series of seizures when she was very young because she was hypoglycemic. Could she possibly have brain damage?

She can become very aggressive from petting, brushing, anything that involves contact. She loves to bark at nothing, she often hides under the couch and she has a "spinning problem" where she has to spin in circles before she can walk, eat, jump, anything.

After months of trying, she still hasn't learned how to sit on command.

I've had many dogs in my lifetime, but never a Pomeranian, does anyone have any information on how to train such an anxious puppy? How can I get her to calm down?

Well done for taking on such a problematic dog. I think your first move should be to get her checked by a vet - the tail chasing/spinning can be behavioural or it can be neurological so your vet would need to tell you what it is in your dog's case.

We've gone in to see the vet quite often in the last few months to make sure she is healthy. The vet only made one comment about her health, there is some kind of imbalance within her blood that "may" lead to liver disease. Not sure if this could affect her behavior?

I've read a little bit about dog OCD and obsessive spinning was a symptom.

And that is all you vet said!!

If I were you I would change vets. Something is wrong. Did he do blood work or anything?

Please let us know. We worry when someone cries for help and never tells us what has happened.

What exactly was the imbalance in the blood workup that the vet noted.
Spinning can be attributed to anything from an inner ear infection to as extreme as a brain tumor.
