Question Answered: Unfriendly Papillon, Advice Please!

I have a 1y4m male papillon. I got him 2 weeks ago. He's very friendly towards people. I wouldn't say he's dominant over me or anyone in the house. He's a nice pet but when i take hime out on walks and he meets a dog, he goes to sniff them(that's ok right?) and then he jumps on them. They obviously dont like it and tell him off in a dog way (barking, biting etc). You would think that he's learned his lesson but he keeps doing it. He even wants to go see the dog even though they will inevitably bark at him. What should I do?

I would first ask, is he neutered? The posture is a dominant thing and Papillons can be quite commonly this way. My breeding male has no qualms about trying to show dominance over my breeding male Miniature Pinschers. They are a tough small breed and generally do not back down easily. If he has not been neutered, I would start there. This generally will slow down much of the attitude.

I agree with Yogi, if he is not neutered that should help quite a bit. Does he seem to be aggressive when jumping on these dogs? Or simply being dominant?
