Unhappy Unanswered: I need help

I think there is something wrong with my dog. I got her two days ago from the local shelter. she was perfectly normal until she was given her rabies shot. Now, she has a runny nose and she sneezing constantly. All around she seems miserable, I already have an appointment set up, but Im nervous I have already grown very attached to her she is the most sweetest dog I have ever seen. I hope it isn't anything serious.

Oh off the subject...She doesn't seemed interested in any kind of dog food I have tried it all. She only wants people food and I dont want to give to her because it isn't good for her. How can I get her to eat her food.

First problem - the shot.

Many dogs have reactions to vaccines. Nearly all of them are not serious and will go away on their own. It is really good that you've already scheduled an appointment with your vet, though. I've never heard someone say, "I shouldn't have gone to the vet." But I've heard over and over "I should've gone" or "If only I'd gone sooner." When in doubt, have her checked out.

Things that send up a really big red flag to go to the vet are dehydration, labored breathing, fever, and irregular heart beat.

The food issue. If your dog's hungry enough, she'll eat it. It's a good idea to try a few foods to see if one strikes her fancy, but in the end, pick one and stick to it. If you are willing to prepare the raw diet, then kudos. It's one of the nicest things I've seen someone do for their dogs. I'm not willing to do it. My dogs get the bagged stuff. A healthy dog will not let themself starve. As long as you've got a clean bill of health from the vet, just wait it out and make sure she's getting enough water.

It does sound like a reaction and the best one to help is the vet. As Cheryl says the food issue could be unrelated and just part of the settling in process. Let us know how she gets on at the vets.
