Unanswered: Desperately in need of help!
I'm new here, I would greatly appreciate some help.
I have three pitbull mix dogs.
7yrs, 2 yrs, and a 10 month old
I just adopted the 10 month old a month ago, and I am having some trouble with him.
He is hyper to an extreme!!! I take him for an hour walk ever morning, kong play time, play time with my two other dogs, but nothing seems to help with his energy level. He rarely naps, constantly barks at me, nips at me, wants to play all the time. Even when I do get him to lay down for a nap, as soon as I try to leave the room, he jumps up and wants to play. I work from home, but I haven't been able to work since I adopted him.
I've tried everything I can think of to help him with his crazy energy. I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help my Finn puppy with his crazy energy, or how to get him on my other dogs nap/play schedule.
Thank you.

What about his diet? Would he be better on a low protein food?

Thanks cygwyllt that was going to be my next step. Going to the vets pet store today to discuss food options for him.
I also ordered him a dog backpack, hoping that if I use it and weigh it somehow on our walks it might help some.
I appreciate your advice! thank you

He sounds lovely but I can imagine how much hard work he is! My parents adopted a young springer/staff cross and he was very much as you describe your boy. They have not got a clue about training. Mum is in a wheelchair, my dad is deaf, between them they failed the most basic training class even with one to one work by the trainer! But their dog has grown into a wonderfully affectionate, loving boy. He loves all people but responds well to direction and discipline - the sort of dog that you can speak to politely and he will do as he is asked. I can't remember how long it took them to get him to that stage - perhaps 6 months - but if they could do it with everything that was stacked against them I'm sure you can persuade your youngster to be civilised before too long.
Just another thought - what about some sort of brain training - giving him kibble in a puzzle toy for instance? You might find that a mental workout will tire him more easily than a physical run.
