Default Unanswered: Help !!!!!

Hi, my little 5 month old chihuahua is sick.
We took him to the vet Fri Night. He had been very lethargic for the last 4 hours, and generally very quiet. He had done either poop or vomit. The vet did the parvo test, and it came back positive. We had to leave him overnight. They gave him IV electrolytes and antibiotics. I picked him up Sat morning and he was doing a little better.
Is Mon at almost 4 AM and he does not look any better. He pees normal and he just pooped (almost normal, a little on the soft side, but very stinky).
He does not present vomit and angain, we have not seen any vomit.
Maybe the vet diagnosed the wrong disease?
HELP PLEASE!!!

I don't know if you have been doing any research on the internet or not but this appears to be a good site for you to read: Parvo FAQs

If it were me, I'd probably be calling the vet and telling him how your dog is acting. I think it is going to be a long road--Please read the link I gave you.

I don't know what angain is!!?? What antibiotics did the vet give your puppy? I would research those also as they can cause reactions too. BUT Parvo is nothing to ignore as it can be deadly very fast.----Talk to your vet----I hope he is a good one!

Good luck and keep us posted. We worry if we never hear back--hoping for good news!

I am so sorry to hear about your chi baby.. At 5 months old, had he not already had his series of puppy shots which included a parvo vaccine? Parvo is certainly very serious for your puppy as well as any other dogs you may have in your house and yard. Both your home and yard will have to be treated as the parvo virus can survive for quite a long time. Was he taken to your regular vet who normally treats him, or to an emergency vet at night? If he did not see his regular vet, I would definitely take him to your vet as soon as possible. Pups with parvo often will not be able to eat and drink due to the extreme vomiting created by the disease, and consequently need to be on IVs to prevent dehydration. Please give us an update on his condition.

It is surprisingly common for dogs who are already vaccinated to contract parvo. If the level of antibodies from the mother's milk are still high then the vaccine does not take so effectively.

A young pup like this needs closer attention than a robust adult. I agree that you should see the vet.

Oh no, I'm so sorry about your puppy. I hope it's not actually parvo. But I would make sure you do a lot of follow up with the vet. I hope your little one gets better soon, keep us posted.
