Default Unanswered: He bites people when they go to leave!

Ive owned a 3 yr old Antebellum Bulldog for about a year and a half now (I adopted him from the shelter i work at) He has always been a great dog until lately he started doing this thing where when people go to the gate to leave he runs up and basically attacks them. He always fine when people go in and while they hangout but not so much when they go to leave. He hasn't broken the skin yet but he has left major bruises on a few friends. He weighs about 110 lbs and has a very big mouth and is eventually going to seriously injure someone if i cant make him stop. For now he wears a muzzle whenever we are not home and our roommates are home, but i dont want him to halve to wear it forever and im really worried that he might start being aggressive in other ways too if i cant get this to stop. I have a trainer coming to work with us on Sunday but any advise would be greatly appreciated!

First of all I have to say thank goodness you are taking this seriously and getting professional help! Far too many people try to deal with problems by asking advice through forums and the like when they need an expert beside them.

To be honest, I think the best thing you can do is wait to see the trainer/behaviourist and take his/her advice rather than hearing all sorts of suggestions that may or may not be contradictory.

I really hope it works out for you - not many people would be willing to work with a dog with problems like yours and he is a lucky dog to have a committed owner to stick with him.

Is there any way you can tie him up before company leaves so your company is safe?
