Unanswered: dog won't leave me alone
Hello
I don't know if this is a problem, but my dog is always glued to me everywhere I go. He will not stop following me, not even inside the house.
I am wondering what this means? Is this a problem? or it just means he loves me a lot?

Join the club. I haven't gone to the bathroom by myself since we got Porter. Some dogs are extra clingy like that.

Love is a human feeling/ concept.
Dogs naturally are a pack animal, and will follow around whomever they consider to be their alpha. The alpha in a dogs eyes are the source of safety, food, and security. It certainly is an indication that your dog thinks highly of your ranking within the pack, and feels a sense of belonging to you.

I've got three dogs - one that likes to do her own thing - she'll sit by the window and watch the world go by regardless of where the rest of us are, one who will be wherever she feels most comfortable and one who seems to be attached to my ankle by an invisible rope. They all have different personalities but I feel closest to the one who follows me everwhere!

im sorry Lange, it wasnt my intention, but we do (including myself) have a tendancy to put human emotion/ feelings to our animals that they dont have a concept of, and I think sometimes we do need to remind ourselves, that they dont feel some of the emotions.......or more to the point, dont feel some of these emotions to the level we do.
I like to think Kato loves us..........but in reality, he respects us and because of this he sees us in high regard and worth his efforts...........but it is nice to sometimes simply put it down to love.

Well, I think you're wrong. My doggies love me!!! I know it!!! I know my kids don't greet me like they do when I leave for an hour.

Try having 12, 8 to 9 week old puppies, if you think they don't follow you....

I firmly believe that dogs are capable of love. Theirs is a pure love with no hidden agenda.

wont l let you be
Im pretty sure he loves you and in his own way protecting you from what ever he thinks you need protecting from, but if you totally ignore this , do not speak to him or look at him , do not respond he will eventually get fed up. It is difficult to ignore but keep trying . DO NOT RESPOND. He loves you. Sammydog

he loves you!
It sounds to me like he is just particularly attached to you. I have two "pet bulls", and one is apparently glued to my knee cap while the other is fairly aloof to anything I'm doing unless there's food involved.
For the one who is attached to my knee, I taught her to "go to bed" with a clicker and treats. When I'm bustling around the house cleaning or cooking and I'm constantly tripping over her, I can say "Go to bed Nina!" and she'll mosey on over to her crate and curl up with her blankie. I don't have to use treats anymore. She will only stay there for so long though - usually an hour or so. I don't admonish her if she gets up after 15 or 20 minutes in bed - that's pretty good considering I can't even take a shower without her.

They do not make a coffee table strong enough to support someone my size. I can see it now, step up and it splits in half and 12 puppies would be running for their lives.

They do too make a coffe table that big. I have one. Solid knotty pine 2x4s with brass fittings. Thing weighs a ton, but it'll never break. I'll see if I can't find a pic of it somewhere.

My dog also is glued to me. Once in a while i get annoyed, as I do not see him and trip on him, but , for whatever reason he does this, be it love, pack leader, or even anxiety, I love him so much, if he is not around, I wonder where he went. I love my dog, I am glad he wants to be around me.
