Default Unanswered: Moving Overseas

Hi, we're moving to South America...just south of the equator.

Ol' Smoky Bear weighs 50 pounds (so the carry-on option isn't possible), and I'm fairly certain that any time of the year will be outside of the 10F - 85F temperature range that most airlines have set (within which they will allow the dog in the cargo area or the checked baggage area of the plane). No, it isn't possible to drive there.

Any suggestions?

I've looked at UPS.com and saw that they will ship animals. Anyone have experience or heard anything positive or negative about this way?

The last resort, we can give Ol' Smoky to my parents for two years--until we move back here.

Thanks for your help!
