Hi all,

My 11 year old sheltie recently started having issues with her back legs. When she sits down on her back legs to scratch/groom, she sits there and looks from side to side at her back legs like "why aren't you moving?", she does get up on her legs eventually, but it just worries me because it's been happening more frequently. She doesn't cry or anything when this happens. After she gets up, I rub her back legs and everything seems ok. She can run around and play fine, it's just the sitting down/getting up she has an issue with.

Any ideas?

It could be anything from something neurological to something like arthritis...My suggestion would be to take her to vet and get her checked out...She may be experiencing some pain that she's not showing as dogs are very good at hiding their pain.

My oldest saint bernard has hip dysplasia and arthritis. She is on glucosamine and chondroitin. Take your dog to the vet and have her hips and joints xrayed.

I have a 10 year old REDNOSE with arthritis. It seems to bother him when the weather changes and if its real cold you can tell How ever since we live in florida the weather stay nice for the most part he still thinks he 6 months old and runs around but at the end of the day you can tell he fills it . He don't whimper or cry about it how ever the vet say's it would be better to put the dog down as far as cost i guess since i brought the dog in there after i had been working on my grandparents farm she figured i did not have much money or something once i told her money was no object witch its not they seemed to lean toward medicating him and he seem to do just fine still shows a little soreness wind it gets real cold how ever he still runs the yard like he use to but now he has a shadow that runs with him a 18 week old colby that weights 38 pounds
