Talking Unanswered: I need some advice...

My dog Mia is three years of age,She is a Maltese Shitzu x and is so cute,.I love her to bits.My problem is when I put her downstairs on her bed and give a couple of hours she will start to bark, she'll bark once then a few more times after that.I have had her for about approx 7months now and was fine with this routine. After she started barking my husband went down stairs and hurt her because she yelped which I did not like and told him not to touch her again this was because of her barking at 11pm at night. Why do you think she is doing this for?.Any suggestions to get her to stop barking late at night?

I guess my main question is why does she have to be downstairs in her bed instead of the bed in your room at night? Dogs prefer to be with their owners. This does not mean they have to share your bed but many small breed dogs prefer to be with their owners if for no other reason than a sense of security.

Um, not just small breed dogs like to be near their owners. All of my dogs HAVE to be in the same room with me. And when Ryan is at work, they all pile in bed with me too. Your dog can sleep on his little bed IN your bedroom with you. He is lonely.

I also think your dog is lonely. Find an area in your bedroom for her bed and if she feels more secure that might stop the barking. Dogs need and want attention, even if it's negative attention (poor thing.)
