Default Unanswered: dog eating disorder?

we have a 3 year old weimaraner. He came to us from another home about 6 months ago. He is very healthy in all respects, eats a regular diet along with our other 2 wiemaraners, but takes every opportunity to eat all kinds of other things that he comes across (mostly food products but not always), including a pound of whole coffee beans, toothbrushes, a whole raw acorn squash, a sandal. He is obsessed with eating. Does anyone have any information / suggestions about dog eating disorders, a dog's compulsion to eat anything in its path? - other than keeping everything at least 6 feet off the ground, which is manageable with many things, but not all!)

Sorry, it may be an obvious question but does he do it all the time or only when he is left alone?

We have one of those dogs too! He is a great pyrenees but he eats everything. He ate a whole carton of eggs, and the carton, a whole package of paper towels, corn on the cob, cob and all, etc. He is from a shelter but that has no bearing on what he eats. He is just a giant garbage disposal. If I drop something on the floor, he eats it. Doesn't matter what it is. I want to know the answer to this too. My vet has no clue why my eats everything.
