Unanswered: advice on dog door
I'm looking for some advice regarding dog doors. I have installed several different commercial models, which seem to work, but one of my dogs is quite shy and refuses to use a solid, hinged door. Heavy sheets of old carpet or blanket, tacked along the top edge of the opening, work well but are of course quickly destroyed. My best attempt so far is heavy 3-inch-wide strips of rubberized material, hung side by side along the top door frame. These last a bit longer, but are still chewed up within a few days.
Any suggestions? Something that I can apply to the strips to discourage chewing? Bear in mind that the dogs will be pushing through the strips constantly to enter and exit, and so I can't use something that will rub off on their coats. Or perhaps a totally different approach?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
