Unhappy Unanswered: Puppy bit into a Gel Ice Pack

He is a 4 month old shih tzu
He bit into the packet but by the looks of the packet, it doesn't seem like he may have ingested any of the plastic
HOWEVER, we do not know for sure if he ingested any of the blue gel substance inside the packet.
The brand of the gel ice pack was "Rapid Relief Hot/Cold Gel Pack" and it said "non toxic"
I think he may have ingested some seeing as he is young and likes to eat everything he sees.
Now I need to know what are some symptoms I should expect to see
He has jus eaten his dinner and drank water and so far he hasn't done anything unusual
What should I do??

[B]I am giving you a link to a thread done in here a while back---It will prob. alarm you but you may need to see and decide what to do---I would be concerned that most of the vets talked about in this thread--DIDN"T DO ANYTHING or were not concerned and should of been! It also sounds like the stomach should of been pumped or something given quickly to try to stop the dog from dying days later. Sorry to make you scared but this is the info out there from these members experiences. I hope your puppy didn't swallow this crap! Keep us updated please--We worry about these things.[/B

At this point instead of waiting for something to happen, call you vet and ask them what they would recommend. Even though it says non toxic does not mean the dog cannot become ill from it.

And I hope this is a good vet and knows enough to do something and not shrug it off as not important because he doesn't think it is serious!!!!

Post Same here

My one and a half year old dog has done the same exact thing, and we knew from the start that she ingested none of the plastic, but some of the gel. It was the same brand as you mentioned. She was completely fine, no harm done whatsoever. I'm pretty sure your dog will be fine, too.

HELLO THERE,

well thanks for all the info guys
its been almost 24 hrs and my dog hasn't shown any symptoms of any antifreeze poisoning. I havent seen the "drunk" stage and he is eating and drinking like usual
I really hope he is fine
I have been doing a lot of reasearch on this and I do not think the product I had contained any antifreeze seeing as most don't anymore.
I have to still wait a few days til I can know for sure he is fine but it looks promising right now
Just need to cross my fingers
