Well to start, Cody is my dog, he's a year old Bichon Frise. He wasn't a thought about buy, it was a sort of love at first sight and please mum please buy.

But he was a rescue puppy, and well we got him home and me and him just started it off great, by the end of day 1 he was following me everywhere I went. A few months passed and we where as inseperable as ever. My Mum would tell me while I was at School he would sit on the windowsill all day and cry till I came home.

But this all changed...about 2 month's ago I came down with something, and it got really bad to the point I had to be hospitalized, during that time he slept in my room still, but with my sister. And instead of me taking him out for walks and feeding him my mum was taking him out and feeding him, my mum has 3 dogs of her own, we go to the same woods, but me and Cody usually went the more adventurous route now he doesn't want to come with me, he want's to be with his "pack"...

Well anyway I came home about 2 weeks ago now, and Cody isn't the same. I didn't even get a hello greeting from him when I got back, and that was what I was looking forward to the most, he just ignored me and said hello to my mum instead :C

He ignores me now completely, I call him he doesn't look at me, I get up and go to a different room he stays with my mum, it's like someone has ripped my best friend away from me :C I don't really know what to do...

I have tried spending some quality time with him, but all he does is whine to be with my mum...
it comes to bed time, he comes in here and from 10pm till 8am the next morning all he does is cry, where he used to jump onto my bed and cuddle with me, he used to sleep in my arms under my covers and from the moment his eyes closed he didn't move...

I don't know what to do. Cody was, still is my whole world...I never made friends easily, so to lose Cody would just be the worst, but I think I have already lost him...

I understand you cannot humanize dogs. They have their own way of doing things, and pack status is always changing...but I just really want the Cody I knew back...

If anyone has a suggestion I'd be very greatful.

Since you were the first person he's considered when you got him, I'm pretty sure you'll get him back! Would it be possible if you ask your mother to be lenient in taking care of your dog, just to let him be used to the idea that you're there again for him? Because in my point of view, it seems that you're dog thought you left him, and your mother was the one to pick up the role you've missed while you were hospitalized.

You said it so yourself, it was love at first sight, so I'm perfectly sure you'll be back with being best buds with your dog in no time. Try to be more patient.
