Default Unanswered: Please help me identify my dog Clover.

I recently adopted a puppy from a rescue shelter in the south. She was listed as a "Pug/Boston Terrier Mix", but I'm not sure if that is correct. I want to know what other people think, because to me she doesn't look like a pug or a boston. I love her to death, and she is very playful. She shivers a lot when she is cold, she has a curly tail, floppy ears, and her skin turns bright pink when she gets happy or excited. You can see it right through the white parts of her coat. When we got her she was 11 weeks old, and weighed about 9 lbs. She is now almost 6 months old, and she weighs about 15-16 lbs. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I didn't reply to your first post because, quite simply, I haven't a clue The brindle colouring could be from a Boston but nothing in him would suggest that mix to me - his muzzle is too long. He doesn't look like a Jack Russell because his head is too domed, his ears are too round and the colouring is totally wrong!

What is his character like? Does he have terrier characteristics at all?

Her character is very energetic, then very sleepy. She goes hyper for awhile, then sleeps. Her skin under her fur turns very pink when she gets excited. I was told by the vet that the pinkness is a characteristic of a Boston Terrier. They couldn't fully tell me what she was though. You are right, if she was a Boston/Pug mix she would have a smushed in nose, which she doesn't. After looking at hundreds of pictures I am leaning towards her being some kind of a Rat Terrier mix maybe? A Rat Terrier/Pug mix is the closest match I have found so far I think. Also when she is outside and she hears/smells something that catches her attention she will stand on three legs, and kind of lift one of her front legs up. I'm not sure what breed that is a characteristic of, but maybe it would help identify her. My gut feeling right now is some sort of Rat Terrier mix, but I am still hoping to hear from others on here to get their opinions.

Smile Welcome to the forum!

I am prob. way off, but beagle keeps coming in my head----For sure there is a mix there--could be more than 2 breeds there and wondering if beagle is a 'little bit' in there. I know you said you have looked at many pics but going to give you a link to a good place to check on: Beagle Information and Pictures, Beagles --This is the page for beagles but you can look up any breed--just go to the home page listed at top of page. Note that there are 8 pages of beagle pics--see bottom of page. Be sure to scroll all the way down on these pages--ads get in middle and makes you think the page is done when it is not!

What kind of bark does she have---a little 'howly?' My daughter has beagles and you can tell them by their bark! A Beagle is classified as a hound.

And your pup is still only 6 months old--Could still change a little in looks. Keep us posted with pics as she gets older so maybe we can make a better guess. She is a little cutie for sure---Is she a gentle little girl--Her face makes me think that.

Cool

Yep...I first thought Beagle too! But where is the brindle coming from? In the picture shot from above, I first thought Boxer. But Clover seems kind of small to have Boxer. Any one else see that breed in Clover?
I feel in love with her sweet look Very cute little dog.
