Default Unanswered: My Beloved Romeo

Today we lost our 8 year old Keeshond Romeo to liver failure. Last week my wife found him drinking the water out of a plant container that had been sitting next to the garden. It belonged to the friend we are staying with and was a remainder from the Easter Holidays, it was an Amarylis bulb that had bloomed. We had no idea how deadly this can be to your pets. Romeo fought for 4 days and finally succumed today at 11:30 AM. This is just a note to everyone out there, PLEASE, PLEASE keep an eye out for your pets, and download and place on your refrigerator a list of all the common house plants etc that can kill them. Remember they need us to protect them.

So sorry to hear of this tragedy. There are so many things that are harmful to a dog that most people just have no idea of. I am bumping up a long thread I started sometime back in this forum in hopes that many dog lovers will find out and maybe save their dog from going through what your Romeo did.

This is a very long thread but worth the time to read if it will save a dog's life! And you can read especially about some dangerous plants in posts 12 and 13. If anyone knows of others not listed here--Please feel free to add them to the list!

I can't add anything to the list but I also wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss of your beloved Romeo.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"
