Default Unanswered: Dog and Cat problems.

Hello,
First off forgive my bad english I will do my best :P

I have a 1 year old persian cat and just recently adopted a 8 week old toy poodle.
My persian cat is very calm and well behaved. Since the puppy came in the house my cat is acting strangely.
The dog is a female and she is harassing my cat every day, jumping on him , taking hes food , she even goes inside the cat litter etc....
The cat is not eating well anymore and now I am afraid he might stop using the litter box and maybe even start spraying the house?
At the moment the puppy is small and can not clime on the couch or the stairs to come upstairs but when he gets older I am afraid my cat will not have any peace and I can't have that because he is such a nice cat.
He is so nic eactually that he is not issing at her or teaching the dog any manners , he avoids all confrontations.
I am afraid this will get progressively worst and I was thinking of returning the dog to the breeeder and let him keep the money since it's my fault for doing things without having taking into consideration what could happen to my cat.

Smile Welcome to the forum!

I have no experience with this problem as I have never had a cat. There is at least one member in this forum who will prob. have some good advice as he has both dogs and cats and a lot of experience. In the mean time I checked out the net and here is one site to check into:

http://www.catforum.com/forum/37-beh...new-puppy.html

There are many more sites on this subject--Just put--> cat and new puppy-- in your browser (as I did) I hope your puppy will settle down some in time and both your cat and puppy will become good buddies! At least this is not an old cat that would be more apt to have nothing ever to do with this young 'upstart!'

From what I have gathered from the net though--You have to make sure your cat keeps eating!! The link I gave above may give you some ideas. But hey! Please put the words (above)in your browser as there is a lot of info to be seen in these sites.

Why not feed your cat and move the litter tray upstairs? You can get a baby gate for the stairs and keep the dog at the bottom.

Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog it's too dark to read!
