Hi, I am new to this, but have a problem with my 11 year ol GSD. He has recently been put on Metacam and is doing great, can run up the stairs now But the problem is .... he is rufusing to go out for walks, he hasnt been out for a week now. I can get him to the end of my drive then he turns about and heads back to the house. What can I do, and why is he behaving like this. Thanx

He is 11 years old. He probably wants to lay around most of the time now, or at least stay closer to home. 11 is a senior doggy. It's like asking your 80 year old granny to continue doing everything she did when she was 20. It isn't going to happen. I'd let your doggie relax comfortably at home and not take him walks anymore if he doesn't want to go. He probably has joint and/or hip issues, arthritis. You should probably take him to the vet and have his joints and hips exrayed to make sure they are still ok. I think if I was old like your doggie, I wouldn't want to go for walks anymore either.
