"Dissolving plaque" was only my own words to describe it. Best to see the manufacturer's website to know how it works. I believe its ingredients kills the bacteria that causes plaque and bad breath, among other things. It takes months to do the job and I did mention it was expensive, which may be the reasons why it's not popular. However, it's a lot cheaper and safer than having your dog put under anesthetic on an operating table to have its teeth clean or have surgery due to bad teeth.
I've heard of the things you add to the water, but no experience with it. My neighbor adds something to her dog's drinking water that makes its pee not burn the grass!
I also have almond oil (containing peppermint and spearmint) that is a tooth oil for humans and dogs that is supposed to help the gums fight plaque and heal gum issues. I have tried it on my previous dog but now on my current dog. I think it's better than using something made of chemicals.
Although I'm wondering about Leba III, I don't have a need for it right now. The best way to keep dogs' teeth clean is to let them chew on a raw bone, especially a hip joint knuckle bone. Maybe I may need to use the spray when my dog gets too old and weak to chew raw bones.
