Default Unanswered: Please help

My 4 year old cavalier king charles spaniel is housetrained. Lately he is urinating where he is not supposed to when I go out to the stores and during the night. I don't know what to do? We give him treats when he goes on the paper but when we are asleep or not home he goes where ever he wants. He knows he does wrong because the minute we spot it and just look at him he retreats. Any advice? Thank you

rug doctor the carpets throughly use a enzymatic cleaner and wipe floors down and re train. I may take even 7 months to potty train successfully so be patient .

CAn you put him in a crate when he can't be supervised? Dogs don't normally pee where they sleep.

Ooo a King Spaniel, I love those dogs they are gorgeous!

As for your little problem, It could be a few things. One would be he might be suffering from seperation anxiety when you're not around. The other could be he's bored. When working, or hunting dogs like spaniels get bored or anxious they start to get destructive, they also start making little accidents around the floors. All I can tell you is don't get mad at him if you find a stain on the carpet. now if you find him in the act of doing it, don't scream but say sternly "No!" if he has paper to go on just lead him over to that and show him where to GO. when he's done with his business praise him and give him a treat.

The first thing that should always be done when a dog is exhibiting a new behavior that's not normal for them is to get them to the vet to rule out anything medical..It's possible he has a UTI..If he checks out medically then you can work on deciphering the reason for the new behavior.
