Default Unanswered: Westie with partial torn ligament

Hi,
My 4 yr old female Westie has a partial torn ligment in her rear left leg. She has been to the vet, x-rayed and tested. My question is if anyone has a similar experience and can a partial tear heal without surgery.

Thanks,
Rick

Yes, I have a Bichon Lhasa Apso mix that tore her ACL when she was 2 1/2, my vet told me that small dogs often heal just fine without surgery, as they have no problems keeping the weight off that leg. Zoe did not have surgery, and now, 7 years later, still walks with no sign of a limp, or any sort of lasting damage. My vet can feel a slight bit of scar tissue in that knee, but it does not affect her in any way. We keep expecting to see arthritis or something crop up, but nothing so far, and at 9 1/2 years old, she would be showing signs if she was going to have issues. She can still jump on my Mom's huge bed, so must be ok
