I have a 3 year old female Chihuahua that recently started to carry around her toys every where she goes in the house and sleeps with them and will occasionally whine. I have checked her to see if she was hurt anywhere but nothing is visible. I am thinking it may just be a hormonal thing. Has anyone else experienced this?

Mr. Sweaters drags all of the dog toys to his crate, lays on top of them and whines. Then I have to go take them all out of his cage. After I take them out of his cage he's fine.

It sounds like a phantom pregnancy. I take it she isn't spayed? For her peace of mind and long term health she should be done. Phantom pregnancies are quite common but can take their toll so she should be fixed.

I had a cat that used to do that but, only in the wee hours of the morning. She was spayed.
