Default Unanswered: Is this lyme disease?

Greetings all,

I have a 3 yr old GSD. I take him for walks in a large abandoned field. Yesterday when we got home I noticed he has a tick on his lower belly. The tick was still attached when i noticed a red rash. I removed the tick and the rash is still there today, is this lyme disease? I am very worried.

Should I take him to the vet? Do ALL tick bites produce a rash or JUST bites which the tick had lyme?

pic of the rash on him, is this lyme disease?

My suggestion is to call your vet.

[B][COLOR="SeaGreen"] In checking on the net about a rash caused by Lyme disease---One place says it is rare for a dog to have a rash like humans get (Bull's eye) and another site states it isn't easily seen because of the fur coat. I am sending the 2 links on that subject--> http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/cliented/lyme.aspx

All About Lyme Disease In Your Dog

There are many sites you can check out for more info. I put --dogs lyme disease in my browser.

It is too bad that you didn't put the tick in a lidded jar and take it to the vet to be checked out--Could test it for carrying Lyme disease! Best way to find out as it is hard sometimes to diagnose the disease in your dog (or human either!)
