Default Unanswered: Help house breaking our lab

We have only had our 9 month lab for 2 months and are having a really hard time house breaking her. Any suggestions?

Crate training. It also takes longer than 2 months to house train a dog in most cases. Think along the lines of potty training a 2 year old child. It's hit or miss for about 6 months until they get it.

Ditto for me! Schedule feedings & potty breaks, use crate and constant watching when the dog is roaming the house. Also, use enzyme cleaners for mistakes.

If you want us to help more with what might be going wrong, you can post your dogs hourly schedule with feedings/potty breaks and accidents. If there's no schedule, that will be the first thing you'll need to do.

A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something inappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

schedule is so important - you have to remember that the average dog is approximate to a 2yr old human child with the really smart ones closer to a 4yr old human child in intelligence.

and you know how toddlers and preschoolers love their routines!

Default hi!

i had a 2y/o tzu, sometimes she break house rules like pee or have a poo inside our house. but when this happened i used to clean 3x the area she used to removed the odor so that she won't do that again.and it really work's. now she used to wait until i bring her outside the house before she pee or poo. actually i learned this from the show dog whisperer.
