Default Unanswered: Help!!

I just got a doxie boxer mix puppy, 9 weeks old, yesterday. I know nothing of her background said she was a rescue puppy. She is absolutely great with people, everyone she meets she wants attention from. However she is very timid when it comes to leash training potty training and crate training. I have followed all the different things I've read online. Using her puppy pads to clean up her messes, making sure there is no room for her to mess in the crate, and not punishing when she has an accident. I understand she is going to have accidents but every time i move her to the puppy pad she seems to not want to go to the bathroom anymore and will wait until later or until we are in a different room. I do not punish her when she has an accident and I do not scold her. I simple move her to the puppy pad and say Airy go pee-pee.

Also I think that she has separation anxiety. She can not be in a room by herself without howling and whining, same with the crate. Even if people are in the room with her while she is in her crate she whines and howls. I have no intention on keeping her in a crate unless were not going to be home for a half hour or more or at bed time.I can coax her into the crate, which has soft blankets for her to sleep in, and shell sleep there but if she notices me closing the door or leaving the room she starts to whine. But I don't know how to get her to stop howling. I tried to take her on a walk today, and she just sat on the leash and whined, refusing to move.
I realize that I have only had her for two days and I don't expect miracles, but I would like to know how to handle her so she gets trained in a proper manner for her personality.

Thank you for any help you can offer,

Smile Welcome to the Forum!

I will leave it to the experts in here to answer your questions! But I will say that is one cute little girl! And she is pretty young to be potty trained I think. And even if she was older---The fact that you have only had her for a day or two-----Don't expect too much too soon---She has a lot of adjusting to do----new different environment, new people--new everything!! And she is only a couple of months old---even being alive is new! Love her and bond with her and have lots of patience.

I just came across a very good article I think you will want to read:Positive Housetraining for Your Puppy There are 3 pages to this link--Be sure to especially note the last paragraph on the 3rd page. There is a comment at bottom of last page also from a person saying that she finally saw a good article on this subject.

The rest is for the experts in here to answer you. I've never had experience with either of those 2 things. While waiting--you might try putting the appropriate words in the search box in this forum---I am sure these topics have been posted about before. See the blue strip that is at the top of the page(s)---Find the white word-Search--Put separation anxiety into the box and you will bring up a big list of threads to search out. When done with that subject--Try with words crate training. Good luck!

hi - the crate training will take care of the potty training with time, patience, and persistance.

are you planning to use the pee pads for the rest of her life? it's a bad idea to start something and then try to break it later.

google "tamar geller house training routine" and click the first result . it's an exerpt from the book The Loved Dog which i think you will find most excellent.
