I have a five year old newfie who does not sleep all night I have tried to ignore her but she just barks louder over the past years I have tried eating later at night, taking her water away, going for late night walks.
Please I have not had a full night sleep for over year and half I will take any ideas

Welcome to the Forum!
Just got done checking out about this breed. This breed is a working breed and probably is bored if it doesn't have a job to do. If she may be sleeping most of the day (because of boredom?)---Do you work during the day (away from the house/dog)? If she sleeps during most of the day and is up and ready to play with you when you get home from work, Being a breed of stamina and endurance, she is prob. ready to go all night and when you go to bed, she prob. is not ready to go back to sleep for the night. She really needs a job to keep her satisfied (Prob. not feasible but it is something to think about or find a sub that would keep her exercising and using up the excess energy. This is also an intelligent breed so she may be getting bored by not using her mind too. Do you have a place near you where she could go swimming--This breed loves the water! In fact the main jobs these dogs are used for is rescuing people in the water. It is a natural instinct they have and most don't need 'primary' training' even. If you have a place for her to swim--maybe taking her there before bed time and/or on weekends might help. Play some games with her that makes her use her mind--Here is one idea: Treibball---Fun Game to teach your dog Another idea-- You might set up an agility type (homemade or boughten equipment) course if you have a big enough back yard.) Teach her new things/tricks ongoing. Also see where this breed would have a job pulling carts, sleds, etc. Not sure where you live but hope you have a snowy winter--You could hook her up to a sled and have her pull you around! (These dogs are best in cooler weather too--warm/hot climates can be a little much for this breed)
Copied this from a site:
The Newfoundland’s sweet disposition makes him a good fit for families. Although he appears somewhat docile, he is an active dog and will need daily exercise.
Also thought you might want to see this: Guard Dogs: Newfoundlands' Lifesaving Past, Present Be sure to keep scrolling as there is a big blank spot between the paragraphs near the top of page.
This also might be interesting to you as it is all about Newfies---archives. I did not take the time to go through only the 1st one! Newfoundland Club of America
Another site to check out:
American Kennel Club - Newfoundland History
As a last little thought, although prob. won't make a difference--Would leaving some low music on where she is at night help? This is no substitute for all the info above though as she needs exercise---body and mind. Keep us posted, lol, doing all this--looking up about this breed---I am feeling like I am acquainted with your dog! I'll bet Zora is a very good dog to have --if she would just quit keeping you awake now!
Hope this has been helpful to you.

Thank You
Thank you for all the information. I guess I never took all of things into consideration. We do work all day I feel guilty now.
This weekend I am going to explore some of the ideas you have found.
We do live in Minnesota but this has not been great for snow.
My Zora is my baby
Thank you
Maria

You are very welcome! And I identify with you completely when you say she is your baby. Lol, I think most members here prob feel the same way.
I live in Wisconsin and not that far away so have close to the same weather--Not much snow this year (and, lol, I'm not complaining)---so far anyway!--You never know in Wi what can change from one day to the next though--at this time last year we had 8' of snow on the ground. And the temps this winter have been great--was 50 degrees a couple days ago and way above average most of the time.
Hope it is decent weather for your weekend with Zora! Be waiting to hear how things go--hope both of you have fun together!
