I have a 6 month old puppy named Bear. I was tld he was a maltese/shi-tzu mix which time can tell that isn't very tru. I have attached a photo of him and am curious to what u all think. Thanks for looking.

Your puppy is still a little young yet---May change in looks in a couple more months when he matures! But I am curious--Have you cut his hair at all!?----Which could make it harder to guess what he is right now also. How much does he weigh!? How tall is he --from top of shoulder down? Any more pics--standing and a full side view standing also. There are so many things he could be! I am not ready to make a guess until I can see what he is going to look like when he is done changing, but I do think there is probably Maltese in the mix. I am going to give some links for you to check out of pics he might look like. Let me know what you think.

he stands rougly 12 inches tall, has his original coat which seemed to shed at first but that went away. he weighs in at 12 lbs he is very muscular as u can tell in the photo looking at his forearms that is all meat. i can post two pics from my phone right now being i am not a home. the pix with the other dog she is a pure breed maltese weighs 8 lbs just for comparison reasons. thanks again for any feed back anyone has

Well it appears that your pup already at 6 months weighs more and stands taller then most of the breeds I mentioned when they are full grown! I don't know why but I kind of thought about it might be mixed with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel--just something about him--but I thought --no, I'm not going to mention that! Lol, but I am now. It weighs on average--10-18 lbs. and is 12-13" tall. Maybe your pup will not get much bigger. No expert here but it seems I have read that smaller breeds mature faster. Then the Bichon averages up to 12' tall and weighs 7-12#. Being a mix doesn't mean it is going to look 50-50 of each breed---It could look like the smaller breed more but have the build of a larger breed. I also think the Cavalier is a more muscular dog then all the a fore mentioned breeds--You mentioned Bear's forearms! And make sure --if you read up on this breed--Please note that there is a smaller breed called just King Charles--There is no Cavalier in the front of it's name! If your dog does have Cavalier King Charles Spaniel there somewhere--Make sure to read up on their health problems--I love this dog but have never had one because heart disease is very common in this breed as well as being prone to a couple other problems--hereditary eye diseases and dislocating kneecaps. Bear may or may not be as prone being a mixed breed but is good to know as you can know what to look for and also to try and halt things like keeping weight down --to do with keeping the heart as healthy as you can.

The cavalier seems to b spot on with the face and markings. Thanks for all that info. I'll post pics as he grows.
