Some petshops, doggie daycares, town days, etc. have "dog shows" for people to enter with classes for best trick, most obedient, dog/owner look alike, best costume, biggest, etc. and these are open to mixed breeds and purebreds alike. Sorry to tell you that mixed breed dogs are not eligible for dog shows through any kennel club. You can however enter agility (USDAA), flyball and disc dog trials with your dog. Have fun! | |

Have you tried UKC? You will have to register your dog with them first, of course. To find UKC events in your area, go to their website at Redirecting... |

UKC does not register mixed breed dogs, and a Goldendoodle is a mixed breed dog. The breeders of these dogs, and other doodle crosses, have a lot of work to do if they ever want their dogs to be a recognized breed. Starting with picking a better name for the breed, getting everyone on the same page, and writing a breed standard.

Actually, while I am not a supporter of designer dogs (aka expensive mutts) the truth is UKC DOES permit mixed breeds (of all kinds) to compete in performance events - just not conformation. It looks like the orginal poster was interested in obedience. So any of the venues that host obedience and obedience type competitions (I would also add freestlye - like the World Canine Freestyle Organization) WOULD allow a golden-whatever - oodle to compete - with the exception of AKC which has decided to stick to AKC registered and FSS purebreds only.

UKC will enter mixed breed dogs in their Limited Privilege program, with certain restrictions, like spay/neuter provisions. This allows them to compete in performance classes. But it's not registration. UKC does not register mixed breed dogs.
AKC also has a Limited Privilege program, and while they stress that the dogs should be purebred, they'll accept dogs that look enough like a purebred dog to satisfy them that the dog is a purebred, even if it's a rescue and no one knows exactly what it is. I had a Beagle/Basset mix that looked enough like a Beagle that no one ever suspected there was a Basset hiding in the woodpile. So we called him a Beagle, and entered him into the ILP program. I also had a Dachshund/Beagle mix that looked enough like a Dachshund, although a poorly bred one, that he also was entered into the ILP program without any questions.

I don't believe I said that UKC will register mix breeds but if I gave that impression, I'm sorry for the confusion.
Per my post, I was responding to the original poster's question about where he/she could enter his/her dog in obedience competitions.

OK - I looked back at my original post and see where the confusion is - when I wrote "you have to register with them first" I meant you need to file the limited registration paper work in order to participate in non-conformation events. It's a form of registration - but it of course -does not mean your dog is a purebred or that the puppies from any litter from that dog will be registerable as a purebred. Sorry for not being clear!
