Not going, but it seems that you know something about UKC shows.
Maybe you can inform me?
I have a nice breeding pair of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and they are registered UKC. I have never shown a dog, and have a bit of trouble navigating the UKC site to find where a Cavalier show is being held. From your question, "what breed do you show", and the reference to the Rat Terrier Club, I assume that the shows that are sponsored by different breed clubs also include many other breeds. Tell me it's true!
How do I find out if a nearby UKC breed club show that might have my breed shown in it? I live in Central Minnesota, but don't mind traveling a couple hundred miles to find out more about the show circuit.
Have you done any AKC showing?
What differences do you see in the two registration clubs other than professional handlers?
I'd love to get to a show or two just to see if the dogs that I have are really as nice as I think they are. They seem to fit the breed standard, and look like many of the top winners, but it's nice to see other good dogs "moving" to be a better judge of my own.
Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

I have been involved in AKC shows since I was about 4 years old (a long time!) but this will be my FIRST UKC show. It looks to me like most of their shows are all breed but you can always contract the show secretary to get mroe info to make sure. From what i understand the differences between AKC and UKC shows are UKC is ONLY owners and breeders showing, more breeds, different groups, they do not allow all the foney grooming that AKC SAYS they do not allow but still happens.

If you want to find UKC shows go to the following link: Redirecting...
at the top there is a green banner click on "dog events" and then " UKC Dog Events Department" on the drup-down banner. Once you are on that page you can click on "Upcoming Events" on the righ side of the page. You can find shows my state, date, club etc.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted if you enter anything!

Probably won't be entering anything soon. Just want to be ringside to get a feel for things.
I have a litter of pups due in May and think I have a great combination of genetics. I'm hoping to save a good pup for possible showing but am having difficulty convincing my husband! Sometimes I think I get along better with the dogs than the man! LOL

We had a GREAT time at the shows (even if it was over 90 degrees!)
Here are our show results! I had 2 dogs entered, one male and one female.

Show #1:
my girl got Best Female
my boy got Best Male. He also was best of winners (over my girl), best of Breed, got a group 1 and Best in Show! (yes the whole show!)

Show #2:
best female
best male + best of winners, best of breed and a group 2

Not to shabby... I am EXAUSTED!

Congratulations!
How many show points is that and how many do you need to have champion status with UKC?

HI!

I have been involved with AKC shows my entire life and began into UKC venue about 3 years ago.

For UKC Conformation CH you need a total of 100 points. In addition to the 100, you must have gotten 3 competiton wins under 3 different judges (a Best male, Best female, Group placing in which you beat out another dog)

There is also GrandChampion titles in UKC.
Point system and that are alot different than AKC.
