Exclamation Legal issues (not showing my dogs!)

I have been working with a breeder for several years now. I have two new dogs both 1 year old. I was told verbally early on that they would be showed before they were 2 years old and that the male would be shown and confirmed before he started to spray. At first the communication was going well. She showed the male 1 time. For experience he got a first no points. They both need to be confirmed before they are mine. The last several times the breeder said she would show them and then failed to do so both times. I have asked twice since then to see when the next time would be. I have not gotten a response either time. I was also told she would take care of grooming because the breeder wants them to be stripped. This has not occurred either. The last time I set up a time to get them groomed she canceled.

I am getting frustrated and I wonder when the contract no longer is legally binding.

Help!

is any of this in writing? Appears there may not be a contract and if there is the breeder has breached the contract by not finishing the dogs or complying with the agreement, if in writing. If it was verbal the breeder many not have any standing with regards to a verbal contract unless there are witness' to the verbal agreement. But again, even if there are witness', the breeder still would be in breach of the contract (agreement).

Personally, I'd tell her to "get stuffed." I don't understand why when some people buy a dog from a breeder, the breeder has so much influence in the lives of your dogs.

Your question is one that needs to be answered by an attorney.

But, did it ever occur to you that the dogs haven't been shown because they're not ready yet? Maybe they're slow to mature? If they aren't ready, or if it looks like they aren't going to have what it takes, it's a waste of money to run them into the ring, just so someone else can take home the points.

If they need experience, they can get that at matches, which are a heck of a lot cheaper.

The reasons are many. Like we don't want to see one of our puppies grow up to be some ones puppy factory. That happened to a breeder friend of mine.

If you happen to own one of the bully breeds, we don't want our puppies (or their descendants) to end up in the hands of a dog fight promoter.

We don't want our puppies to get dumped at a shelter. If they can't keep the dog, or don't want it anymore, we want it back.

We don't want to send that show prospect to someone who promises to show it, and then doesn't.

We don't want to see one of our male dogs sold, shown, and then used to cover any bitch with papers, and a few without papers, when our kennel name is on the dog.

We don't want to sell a male pup, and find out that many litters of pups are being registered with him listed as the sire, when he's not. That happened to a breeder friend of mine, too.

We're just trying to be responsible, and do the best we can for the puppies we bring into the world.
