Default Show brags

my Miniature Pinscher boy got his UKC Championship in July.
Sunday he took his first AKC point and went Best of Breed.

This is huge for him. We got him less than a year ago as a fearful, neglected and abused boy. He has made a full turnaround with alot of time and work and is now on his way.

My sons Beagle (Bred By Exhibitor dog) also already had his UKC CCH and just completed his AKC Ch this weekend as well.

Grats! Maybe you can give me pointers on how to show my puppy. What commands deos he need to know for the ring? What do i need to do to him to get him used to the judges touching him? And whatever else you could think of that is important.

What breed dog do you have?
Did the breeders show as well? Most times they make the best mentors.
What is his temperament like now when he encounters strangers outside the home?
Are you interested in conformation, obedience, rally, agility, etc?

Wow! Way to go!

Your pug was abused but was from a show home!? That's even more awful I think.

Congrats to your son. Did he show the Beagle himself? I am so impressed with junior handlers!

Yes, my son shows his own Bealges. He has a mentor that got him started and helped him in the breed. And this was his first home bred show dog and is now dual championed!

The other is a Min Pin, that is my dog. He was from a show/judges home actually. I would say it was more neglect and lack of socilaization over abuse, though we all feel something happened that i guess we will never know for sure as he is in complete fear of anyone who even resembles his previous owner.

He was placed as a pup with this person, the owner fell very ill just after he got him. As a result of his bedridden status, the dogs did not get the attention they should have. By the time I got him at a yr and a half old, he had never been outside his crate and afraid of people in general. The owner had died and I was contacted by the original breeder and asked if I would take him.
That is history now, he is a social butterfly, loves everyone (except the ones who look like the previous owner, lol) will climb into strangers lap at shows and kiss them, complete turn around.

He went on this past weekend to take Best of Breed again both days. So proud of his turn around.

That's a terrific happy ending - all around.

Congrats to your son. Not only a handler but a breeder too! Very impressive!
