I have 2 energetic dogs for whom I am trying to find some good dog boarding options. They don't do too well in a traditional kennel, because they need more exercise than a few 5 min. walks or playtimes a day - not to mention how ridiculously expensive these places can be just to get your dog minimal exercise.

Does anyone know of any good alternative options for more energetic dogs that don't cost a fortune? I am looking for places within reasonable driving distance of the greater Philadelphia area and the greater Frederick, MD area. I'm ideally looking for something where the dogs get to run around a lot during the day, whether with other dogs or not.

I'm a long way from Philadelphia, but I know just what type of place you're looking for: In my region there is a place called the "Doggy Dude Ranch." It is a very large, wooded, acreage with multiple fenced play yards, wading pools, a creek, etc. The owner specially matches up all of the dogs with play mates and plans activities for them to keep them busy all day long. And they get walked both morning and night as well. I left my dog for a week at this ranch, and she came home tired and happy. I hope you can find something very similar out where you are.

Yes, Doggy Dude Ranch is exactly what I'm looking for - it's price is 1/3 of all of the traditional kennels with day care, and it's such a great visit for the dogs. If only I could find a place like that on the east coast!
