No not all dog sports or all dog sport organizations require that your dog be purebred. A good sport for a dog like the one you described would be weight pull - and you do not have to have a purebred dog to do this or any other kind of draft work.

dog agility might be another option although you might decide to jump at a lower jump height since your dogs massive build will make it harder for her to jump (harder on her joints). The only organization that will not permit her to compete in agility is AKC.

You could also do APDT obedience or rally O - or UKC obedience or dock diving. None of these would require that your dog be purebred.

The exercises for a beginner dogs ( speed training) :

someone will hold a dog for a handler to get some advantage before calling a dog and making him chase him, then throwing a ball ahead for a dog and then running at the opposite direction to make a dog chase him again.
When a dog absolutely loves it, we will put in a tunnel or a wing of a jump

and the most important things to get a fast dog:

Keep agility training short and fun(a lot of handlers don't remember about it!), make sure your dog understand agility is about running, not about doing obstacles, be happy and reward enthusiastically everything that is fast or at least faster as usual. Don’t worry about skipped or additional jumps, when you have a fast, motivated dog, all will easier!

Sorry, but I don't speak English and I can do a lot of mistakes.

Depends which organization is sanctioning the event. AKC just recently decided that mix breeds can compete but they are in a seperate catagory with limited priviledges

How would you like to stop all the problems with your pet? I have some good new but it will take some time on your part. Obedience training will bring out the best in your pet.

Default There are lots of things to get your dog involved in

There a many dog sports out there, more then I though there were that any mixed breed can get involved in. This site has a list of a lot of them Home | www.americansportdog.com you can also find listings in your area to some of these events.

Default Schutzhund sport

Hi,

One of the most fun sporting events for dogs is the Schutzhund. While most of the dogs are trained for this from birth, it is great exercise as well as discipline.
See if you can find a Schutzhund club in your area, and if they will accept non working class dogs, (usually rottweilers, German Shepard's and other protection dogs.)
While there is some emphasis on protection, it is on controlled protection, and more about following commands and doing tasks that are fun and rewarding to the dogs.
I used to take my dogs on tracking event, and agility events, where they would have to go up and over obstacles and also follow scent trails. There are all kinds of activities that you can do with the dogs that can encourage them to be sporting, but also learn to adapt in an environment with lots of other dogs and people.

It is based on the German Working dog tests, but if you find a good group to get with , you will be amazed at what some of the dogs do and love it.
The group I belonged to had many no pedigree dogs, and ones you would never think would be able to do some of the tasks...but they did, and had a great time.

The Dog Chef.

Actually, it sounds like a lot of fun! Unfortunately, I just can't see my two spoiled brats tracking anything beyond a cookie!
