No, but my lab mix would probably be very good at it. She is an OBSESSIVE retriever. It doesn't matter whether it's a tennis ball, a stick, an ice-cycle, or a piece of disgusting... well, you know!

In Miniature Pinschers like Cairn Terriers we do field tests which consist of tunnels where there will be 3 to 4 possible outlets at the end in which there is a caged rat. This gauges the ability of the dog to go to ground and once up the tunnel select the correct route to the rat. I personally do not have the time to dig the tunnels necessary but fortunately for me, I see the pups at 5 to 6 months old in the yard going after moles, rats and mice now so testing is somewhat redundant. Besides, my yard looks like a mine field already due to the digging they do to get to the moles.

Earth Dog... I know of it but as I don't have a breed that can do it I have not been to an event. Always looked like fun!

it is actually quite interesting. The tunnels are wood lined and every approx 6 feet there is an area that can be opened from the top in case the dog gets stuck. The rat is generally accustomed to this process and therefore is not intimidated though it is kept in a cage. The dog just does not know once they get to the proverbial Y's in the road which one to take unless they have the instincts to follow the scent correctly. It is a good test for terriers to determine how much of their instincts are intact. It also helps for me as I do not breed the show but the true Miniature Pinscher terriers. Mine have extremely high natural prey drive and are not called off easily. They go to farms primarily or people with acreage where they can keep rats and mice etc. under control.

Do they have hunt tests for humans? I have to hunt for Buster every time he goes out in the yard.

Because we have bushes and trees and the garage and the gardening house. And the neighbors have catfood on their back porch.

Ok, the first part I did not fall for. It was the part about the cat food on the neighbors porch that convinced me.....

Luna-You are just too much, lol! But I think Buster is named pretty well and prob. has double meaning when you have to 'holler' at him!---Besides you can't call your book--The Adventures of Hoover--ha, ha,ha!

Buster's full AKC name is "Listen here, Buster!" Exclaimation point and everything is on his ACK papers. We called him that because as soon as we brought him home, he immediatly went over and peed on out our rug and both of us said "Listen here, Buster!"

Well, I had to hunt for his stupid ass today. He followed the neighbor guy down the street and I had to go get him. So we are getting a kennel tonight or tomorrow morning. It is a 20 by 20 kennel. We are waiting on Ryan's best friend to call us back so we can borrow his truck.

Sounds like something my Lucky would do. LOL. I often joke around that if Freddy Freaking Krueger drove by and yelled "cookie" Lucky would jump right in the front seat
