Best dog for agility
What is the best dog breed for agility? I know that border collies and Shetland sheepdogs are good at it but I have allergies so that is not an option. I was thinking of a Mudi, Bordoodle (border collie and poodle mix) or an Airedale.
Thanks

ANY dog could be trained for agility - if you look on Youtube you will see all sorts from Jack Russells upwards. If you are allergic to a border collie then you don;t want a border collie cross. No matter what people say - you don't know until the pup is grown whether it will have the collie or the poodle coat. We have a couple of Larbradoodles lately who look like labs - you can only see the poodle in them when they walk.
Why would a Mudi be any better for you than a collie or anything else?

I think Australian Shepherd is the best dog breed for agility. They are active, energetic and have athletic body.

We have an aussie. That dog is sooo eager to please, he would climb to the moon if we asked him too. I agree about them being the best for agility.

My suggestion would be find a dog that you aren't allergic to, and train it well. Any dog can be good at agility with enough commitment on your part.

Irish Terriers are easier on allergies than alot of breeds, also Poodles make excellent agility dogs (no they're not just princess dogs, they're awesome, smart, athletic and eager to please a fair owner) I did agility with a Standard Poodle... she was brilliant!

standard poodles vie with the border collie for top dog on the intelligence scale but the bottom line is, ANY dog can do agility so long's it's got the energy and the interest.
if you're allergic, go with a standard poodle or a bichon frisee.
also, HOW allergic are you and why are you allergic? my husband, when i first met him, he couldn't even hug me, he was so allergic to cats and dog. one hug and 5min later his eyes and nose would be swollen, red, and streaming.
we now live in a house with a big dog and have had up to a dozen cats and the most that happens is he gets the occasional sneezing fit.
he went to trinidad for two weeks and when he came back, so did his allergic reaction - it was gone a couple weeks later.
he grew up in a home with no animals at all - he didn't find out he was allergic until he was late teens/early 20s.
i'm allergic, too, even though i've grown up with animals all my life - i shudder to think how bad my allergies would be if i didn't have them around all the time!
our daughter, 5yrs old in march, shows no sign of allergy.
