Default Cleaning the Carpet

Guessing this is the best place to ask..

what is a good cheap way to clean pee out of a carpet? I do not have a carpet cleaner...I sure wish i did...but until I can get one...I am finding myself doing it ever increasingly with our new puppy .

What products do you find work best for the smell and stain? How do you do it ? sponge, cloth, spray, pour, etc etc.

Thanks

I don't have a bottle on me right now, but I got it at Wal-Mart it works so well! It is just simply called Pet and Kid Stain Remover it isn't in a spray bottle, it has a pop top like sports drinks, it is in the same section as the 401 and all of that (it is a white bottle). It works wonders on my carpet, it totally removes the smell. I hope you can find it at your Wal-Mart!

That doesn't affect the color of your carpet at all (the vinegar)?

Spot Shots is the best cleaner ever. It's in a blue can with an orange lid and is a pet stain formula. You can find it at Walmart. All you do is blot up the wet stuff with paper towel, saturate the area with Spot Shot, let it sit about a minute...use a wet towel to gentle work the stain out..then finally lay a damp/wet (clean, white) towel over the stain and stamp on it so that it sits tight to the area and when the towel is dry..the stain is absolutely gonzo!!!
It's better than any of the pet store products on the market like natures miracle....

There is this one product called Pet Force that is supposed to be a natural cleaner (It smells like pure lemon juice), but it is good for taking care of the smell issue.

I've used both PetZyme and Zero Odor. I think both work well, but they work a little differently. It helps to have a black light to make sure you got the pet stain out. The stain will glow yellow in the dark under the black light. I found that PetZyme works well if you use it as directed. Usually for stains you have to saturate the area and then put plastic over it (garbage bag or something similar) overnight. PetZyme can be found at PetSmart. Zero Odor can be ordered online. It's wonderful for getting out odors.

Unless I use a steam cleaner, I don't have much luck with getting out urine stains at all.

however, one time Phoebe cut herself and bled on my beige carpet and some Oxyclean carpet cleaner got the bloodstain right out.

Oxyclean works great for cleaning out the stain. If you have it, try a little steam cleaner.
