One, he doesn't respect you, he sees himself as the leader. Two, when you chase the dog, it's just becoming a game to him. Chasing a dog to get it to come to you, is one of the worst methods, and it isn't going to work. I do not use treats when training, or when rewarding a behavior. My dog does what I tell him because he WANTS to work for me, I don't force him to do anything.
Try going for a long walk, getting him tierd. At your side, not in front. And feed him AFTER that. So he is being rewared for WORKING for you, its not a free thing. Have him come to YOU for the food. So hand feeding will probably be good for this. Depending on what your opinion is, you can use treats to teach him that when you call, it means you want him to come to you. But he shouldnt get a treat EVERY time, and the treats evntuly shouldnt be seen for him to come to you, if they are, he will be dependant on the food, and will work for the food, not you. |
