Default Teaching your dog to read?

Has anyone heard of teaching a dog to read? Has anyone tried it?

I first heard about it from my mother who found an article in a dog journal. There's a book called "Teach Your Dog to Read."

I am curious if it is easy or difficult. My dog is older, so I don't know how quickly she would learn. I understand how it is helpful for service dogs, but I wonder if it's good for nonservice dogs.

I've never heard of this before. I'd be really interested to hear from other people who have tried it to see how it worked for them. Also to see how you can get a dog to sit there to focus on a book in particular. This has me interested. I'm going to see if I can find any stories about it on google.

I assume the article is talking about reading things like "don't walk" signs and not the collected works of William Shakespeare.

I'm pretty sure that you couldn't really teach a dog to read. They couldn't piece the information together like our brains can. You might be able to teach them to act a certain way when they see something, but that would just be programming behaviors.

I guess it should be considered more recognizing than reading.
