Very interesting thread.

I think that all dogs should be crate trained. I think that's the best and safest way to keep a dog. Any trainer I've ever met has advocated crate training.

I think it's really silly for a dog owner to think that their dogs won't get into anything while they're away. I mean...how would you even know what your dog got into while you were at work, unless there is evidence of some kind?

If you're not there, how can you correct a bad behavior?

I guess that point of view doesn't make much logical sense to me, although I do understand dog owners emotional reactions to crate training.

I don't know, I'd personally rather be safe then sorry. My dog really loves her crate, and will go in it when she's tired, or had to much activity.

Then again, I also don't see a problem with dog owners working to support themselves and their animals.

I absolutely agree with crating dogs. I got a dog last year and she suffers from very bad separation anxiety. I never wanted to crate her, but she started tearing up my house. Peeling off wallpaper! Very bad. Now she goes into the crate to sleep. She is just so used to it. I wish I could let her stay out, but there is just no way.

I have three dogs, the first i got from a rescue at 10 mos, and I was
inexperienced with proper dog training. He was not crate trained although he

destroyed my home several times over. The last straw : i left for the grocery store, and when I returned less than an hour later he had ripped apart my

mattress and had a huge gash through the pad of his foot. he was bleeding profusely. I had to take him to the vet right away, and the vet was only able to stitch the parts of the foot between the pads. But I'm convinced had i not

gotten there in time, he could have died. The two dogs that have came to me since are crate trained. They love thier crates. the doors are never

closed, but they sleep in there at night, and nap during the day. If I am in a heated conversation with the phone company you can find the babies in their

crates. If its time to go to the vet, you can find them in their crates.

Very well said Critter crazy! Thats exactly what I was thinking as I read this post. When ever a visitor is at our home the kennel is the first place our dogs go to if they are frightened. They are the most comfortable there, it is there safe place in the house.

Crates are a good thing not only do they help training but they keep a dog safe. If I or someone can't be there to watch MY dog I know she is safe in her crate. No one can watch a dog 24/7. Weather you believe in crates or not it keeps them safe and other than feeding them keeping them safe should be a #1 priority, and a crate can help with that.

Default dog crates

In my opinion, Dog crates can really beneficial to your pet dogs. With the use of dog crates, your pet can have a comfortable and safe place where he can have the security and privacy while relaxing after a strenuous activity.
