Take your dog to a dog obedience class. I highly reccomend it, it is a great way to train your dog to behave, and not be a danger to your friends and family.

Have your family and friends come over more. It helps when the dog becomes familiar with these people. Also, what we do is whenever someone comes over we hand them a dog treat. Our dog has to do the "sit" command from the visitor telling him to "sit". When our dog listens to the visitor, he gets the treat from the visitor. He then associates the visitor with having food and does not view them as a threat anymore. Plus, he has to calm down and do a commmand in order to earn the treat from the visitor. It's a win-win situation. It has worked for us. If you can get a clicker and do clicker training too, that helps. When he hears the click then he knows he did the correct action and will thus get a reward.

Call your local shelter to find the obedience classes in your area. Ask at your local pet supply if there is an obedience class they recommend. be sure to ask the instructor about his/her methods of training, and only involve in a class that uses positive reinforcement as it method, never one that advocates disciplinary methods. at the classes, you will find many other dog owners, usually with a compassion for dogs, and an instructor to help you get your dog socialized. Your local Kennel Club will usually provide the best classes. Classes are an excellent way to get your dog socialized in a safe and sympathetic environment..and you will have FUN!and guess what..dogs LOVE to learn..and please their masters. When you challenge them with teaching new tasks, it heightens their own security, and makes the bond all the better between owner and dog..A secure dog behaves so much better!

Slowly.... Try one person at a time. Have the person act very calm, basically ignore the barking and bad behavior. As soon as your dog shows any sign of calming down give praise. As long as the dog is not aggressively attacking the friend or family member keep working on it. Try having the "stranger" present your dog with a favorite toy or treat, to show they mean not a threat but a source of fun or food. Something, I did not taken in to consideration is the age, breed and background of the dog all factors in the situation. I'm not a trainer but I have handled many different types of dogs. I hope this helps a little.

thats wierd, she likes strangers but not family and friends. Is she a rescue? if so, then those people might have qualities of someone that might have harmed her in the past.
